And we're with First 5 Forever which is all about encouraging parents to become their child's first and most important teacher. So today we're going to read a book and sing a song but first let's start off with our Acknowledgement of Country. Sarah and Cathy: Here is the land Description: Sarah and Cathy both move their hands in a flat circular motion. Sarah and Cathy: and here is the sky Description: Sarah and Cathy arch their hands above their head and move them down to their sides. Sarah and Cathy: here are my all friends Description: Sarah and Cathy move their right hand, palm up from their inside elbow out. Sarah and Cathy: and here am I. Description: Sarah and Cathy tap both their hands on their chest. Cathy: So the book we're going to read today is called 'I'm a Dirty Dinosaur.' It's written by Janeen Briand and illustrated by Ann James and this book is a lot of fun. It has repeated words in it and it also has some actions so you can join along with us at home. Description: Sarah picks up the book and focus is placed on the book. Cathy speaks whilst moving her hands to emphasis her words. Sarah opens the book. The book shows a cartoon illustration of a dinosaur with real looking mud on his nose. He is walking near a mud-look tree and on the ground which looks to be made of mud. There is a bird sitting on his tail. Sarah: Alright, I'm a dirty dinosaur with a dirty snout. I never wipe it clean I just sniff and snuff about. Sarah and Cathy: Sniff, sniff, snuff, snuff, sniff and snuff about Description: Sarah turns the page and focus is on the words in large font with each letter a different colour of the rainbow. Cathy points to her face and Sarah circles her face when Sarah says the word face. Sarah: I'm a dirty dinosaur with a dirty face. I never wash it clean, I just shake about the place. Description: Sarah turns the page and the page has large words, each letter a different colour of the rainbow. Cathy shakes her head as she says the words. Sarah and Cathy: Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake about the place. Sarah: I'm a dirty dinosaur with a dirty tum. I splatter it with mud and I tap it like a drum. Description: Sarah turns the page. Sarah and Cathy both tap their stomachs. Cathy taps her stomach. The page has large words, each letter a different colour of the rainbow. Sarah and Cathy: Tap, tap, tap, tap tap it like a drum. Description: Sarah turns the page. Cathy points to her feet. Sarah: I'm a dirty dinosaur with dirty, dirty feet. I splash in all the puddles and I stamp about the street. Description: Sarah turns the page and the page has large words, each letter a different colour of the rainbow. Cathy and Sarah both stomp their feet. Sarah and Cathy: Stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp, stamp about the street. Description: Sarah turns the page. Cathy moves her hand like it’s a tail. Sarah: I'm a dirty dinosaur with a dirty tail. I flick it in the muck and I slide it like a snail. Description: Sarah turns the page and the page has large words, each letter a different colour of the rainbow. Sarah and Cathy: Slide, slide, slide, slide, slide it like a snail. Description: Sarah turns the page. The page is covered in mud except for a section with a clearing and the dinosaur heads towards the clearing. Sarah: I'm a dirty dinosaur. I'm yucky! Oh my gosh! I think I'll stomp right to the swamp. Description: Sarah points to the dinosaur on the page. Sarah: Looks like he is going to jump in the pond and… Description: Sarah turns the page. The dinosaur is contently floating in the pond, surrounded by lily pads and holding a flower. The next page has large words, each letter a different colour of the rainbow. Sarah: Give myself a wash! Sarah and Cathy: Wash, wash, wash, wash, give myself a wash. Description: Sarah turns the page and shows the dinosaur stepping out of pond, and facing towards a big section of mud. Sarah: But look, he's all clean and I think he's looking back towards the mud. Description: Sarah turns the page to the back cover of the book, which shows a dinosaur leaping in the air headed towards a bunch of mud. Sarah: He might just jump back in again! Stomp, splash, slide, dive. This little dinosaur just loves mud. Sarah: So a great activity that you could do at home is get some dirt and some water and create some mud with your finger and you can make some fun pictures just like Ann James has done in this story. Description: Sarah puts the book back in front of the dinosaur. Cathy: So now we're going to sing a song, we're going to sing 'If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands.' Ready?
