Belle, the youngest sister is eager to pursue her dream to perform on stage. This dream does not sit so well with sisters Molly and Josie, who are each working hard to make a living for themselves. After all, it’s not as though they don’t have their own problems. Molly’s beloved fiancé is hiding a terrible secret, while Josie’s choices have made her a social outcast. When a handsome young Greek enters their lives, things only become more complicated. Set in the 1920s, the novel explores the lives and loves of the three sisters against the beautiful backdrop of North Queensland. This Australian saga is richly evocative of the period and is filled with colourful characters. Pinney’s conversational style and down to earth tone make The house on the hill a delightful read.
