Keeping up with the Joneses 2.0

26 February 2010

Thanks to all of those who participated in the Keeping up with the Joneses 2.0 self-paced tutorials. Twenty people registered for the discovery course where they were introduced to internet technologies such as blogs, wikis, social networking sites like facebook, RSS feeds and much more. The course featured 8 different modules which ran over a 12 week period. The three lucky winners that completed the course and won the MP3s are: Nicole Larrescy, Hannah Larrescy and Don Ferguson. Congratulations to you and we hope you enjoy using your new MP3s!

We hope that all those who registered had fun and will continue to use some of the new technologies. Feedback received from participants are as follows:

I’ve been feeling for a long time that I am getting left behind by technology, and as a teacher I know that I need to keep up in order to relate to my students. Courses that I looked at were so expensive and this is a wonderful opportunity to gain some new skills. It was a great idea for the libraries to provide this, very necessary in these changing times. I am on maternity leave at present so am enjoying the mental challenge of learning something new and not having to try to find a babysitter! Well done!

Hi everybody,

Looks like we are coming to the end of the course. I personally enjoy and learn a lot about the internet. I will continue using this blog and hopefully learn some more new stuff. The staff in the library and the Logan council are very helpful and are to be congratulated for organising courses like this.

Thank you Logan City Library for hosting tutorials such as this.

Just in case you feel left out or were worried, Keeping up with the Joneses 2.0 isn’t disappearing so you can come back at any time and catch up, or begin the course yourself. Keep in mind that it is a self-paced individual learning experience so you set the pace and determine your availability for time and exploration. Just go to the Joneses Overview to start keeping up with the Joneses!
