Course Overview

The Joneses 2.0

The Joneses 2.0: Facebook, Blogs, Wiki’s, RSS feeds, Flickr and the list goes on. Want to know more about the vast and new Internet technologies that everyone else seems to be familiar with? Here’s your chance to find out and keep up with the Joneses.

The Idea: To give you the opportunity to expand your lifelong learning skills and familiarise yourself with Web 2.0 technologies.

Equipment (for those not completing in library):
» Computers with Internet access
» Sound card to listen to podcasts
» Headphones for those wishing to complete program in a public place
» QuickTime or Windows Media Player for videos
» Compatible browser (e.g. Internet Explorer 6.0 or better)

The Modules: Each module will have a link to tutorials for the relevant technology. You will work through the modules at your own pace and use your blog to write your thoughts (minimum of 50 words) and describe your learning experience for each activity. You will set up and register your blog in module 1.

Although this is a self discovery program that allows you to take control of your own learning, library staff can assist you with the content of the course, but not with your computer or Internet connection if doing it outside of the libraries.

Program ideas were gathered from the Yarra Plenty Regional Library and various explorations by the project co-ordinators.
