Seniors Trivia Day

28 October 2008

Seniors Trivia day at Logan North LibraryWith funding from the Queensland Government’s Department of Communities, the Seniors’ Week True Blue Trivia Day was the first official event held at the new Logan North Library on 27th August. Home Library patrons were the guests of honour, treated to tireless service by local Springwood High students and volunteers.

Seniors Trivia day at Logan North LibraryA game of trivia with questions aimed at all ages, bush poetry and a country singer entertained the large group during the highly successful event. The seniors and students had such a ball that they requested Janet Poole, the Community Services Librarian organise a similar event immediately! We will certainly plan an event for Seniors’ Week 2009.

NoveList - the fiction reader’s advisory database

28 October 2008

NoveList is a database that is designed to help you connect with great books. It allows you to enter a favourite title, or an author, series, or subject, and find an extensive listing of suggested titles that you might also enjoy. If you have a favourite genre, use NoveList to browse lists of books in that category to find authors and titles you might have missed. You can create a personal My NoveList account to save your searches and lists, and to create alerts that will notify you by email when new books by favourite authors or categories are added to the database.

Don’t forget to use the Logan library catalogue to check availability of a title of interest!

Besides helping to locate books to read, NoveList also allows you to learn more about books and authors through Feature Articles, Book Discussion Guides, BookTalks and Reviews. It contains materials for all ages including picture books, children’s chapter books, young adult titles and books for adult readers.
