International Woman’s Day at Logan Hyperdome
15 March 2011On Tuesday March 8th the Hyperdome Library participated in a global web of events that connected women from all around the world by hosting an afternoon tea to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day. Guest Speakers included Jennifer Hall, Phyllis McDuff and Dianne Fensom who shared their own personal stories of celebration at being a woman.

Dianne Fensom – Member of the Soroptimist International of Logan gave us a great insight into the role and achievements of the society.
Special guests Shelly Blyton and Judi Van Manen judged the audience for the best purple outfit of which prizes were presented by Judi’s husband Bert Van Manen – Federal Member for Forde.

Topical Tea at Logan Hyperdome

A small but enthusiastic crowd attended Logan Hyperdome’s Life Journey’s Seminar and Topical Tea in January. Coordinated by Therese Bey from Metropolitan Funerals, participants had the chance to find out about organ and tissue donation from Chris, a representative of donate life organisation and asked many questions about wills and other legal issues from Susan Isaac from Bennett Carroll Solicitors.

Art and Play at Logan Hyperdome
24 February 2011| We had a total group of 22 children aged between 0 – 5. It was a fun and interactive session of different activities ranging from reading a book to making something with play dough! | ||

Christmas Cupcake Decorating
22 December 2010The Hyperdome Library has been awash with fantastic edible artwork as young and old alike took part in Hyperdome Library’s Christmas Cupcake Workshops. Award winning chef, Jackie Thompson, generously shared her cake decorating secrets with our eager participants. The results speak for themselves.

Summer Read.Flip.Win competition
8 December 2010The 2010/2011 Summer Read.Flip.Win Competition is here! It’s simple to participate:
1. You must be in Grade 8 -12 in 2011.
2. Read a book
3. Shoot a short video (up to two minutes long). It can be a Video Book Review (why you liked the book) or a Video Book Trailer.
4. Post it to your YouTube account.
5. Tag your YouTube Video with LLSRFW10/11
6. Fill in an entry form available from all Logan Libraries
The contest runs from December to January, so please enter videos anytime between December 1 and January 31, 2011. Winners will be announced in February. You can enter as many videos as you like – they just need to have separate YouTube URLs and be entered separately.
