New Central Library
Logan Central work continues…
24 August 2010Work continues on the new Logan Central library, with removal of some external facade at the front of the building. Steel purlins have been installed to support the ceiling and footings have been dug for columns as the internal structure begins to take shape.
This project has been jointly funded by Federal Government through the RLCIP Scheme and Logan City Council. Construction company Hutchinson Constructions, Architects Brand & Slater and Project Manager Opus.
Logan Central new premises moving forward
18 August 2010Logan Central’s new library premises are now starting to take shape. The outside has been given a fresh coat of paint and the carpark is nearing completion. A major internal wall has been put in place.
The hole made in the external wall for the top level Community rooms is shown here, and preparation of the floor was carried out for installing extra columns required to support the mezzanine floor.
Demolition of the ramp is to allow construction of a new staircase that will go up to the mezzanine floor and create more floor area below, which in turn will become the Returns room.

Logan Central Stage 2 Begins…
9 August 2010Stage 2 of the new Logan Central Library redevelopment began during July with some preparation work to the flooring, digging in preparation for a new cement slab near the Technical Services area and cutting an extra hole in the wall for the mezzanine floor.

New library for Logan Central!
16 July 2010Over the past 6 months (and more!), development has been progressing for the new library for Logan Central. A total revamp has been carried out on the building, including internal and external structures as well as the surrounding car park. The new Logan Central library will be located in Wilbur Street, Logan Central with completion expected to be early / mid December 2010.
