Logan Central Library building

Logan Central Library will be temporarily closed from Saturday 1 July to Saturday 30 September 2017, and will reopen on Tuesday 3 October

Logan Central Library on Wilbur Street will close temporarily to enable a full replacement of the roof. The library roof replacement is a necessary piece of infrastructure that will ensure the ongoing sustainability of the building.

To ensure the safety of the community, the decision was made to temporarily close Logan Central Library while this work was undertaken.

Logan Central Library will reopen on Tuesday 3 October. Logan Central Library will host a number of activities to welcome the community back to the building.

Collecting holds and returning library items

Items borrowed can be returned to any Logan City Council Library. After-hours returns chutes are located outside all other Logan City Council libraries. The nearest after-hours returns chute to Logan Central Library is at Marsden Library at 35 Chambers Flat Road, Marsden (next to the Marsden Park Shopping Centre).

Items can also be returned to the Logan Art Gallery during opening hours or to the library shuttle (Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 3.00pm).

You can also access the library catalogue online at http://catalogue.logan.qld.gov.au to renew items, cancel holds or view your loans.

If you are unable to return an item due to this closure, please phone any Logan City Council Library.

Any holds placed for collection at Logan Central Library will be transferred to Marsden Library. This means that if any item/s you have requested become available for you to collect before 30 September, you will need to collect these from Marsden Library.

If you would prefer to collect your holds from a different library, please phone any Logan City Council Library or visit the library catalogue online at http://catalogue.logan.qld.gov.au to cancel your hold.

A shuttle bus will be available during the closure to take library customers from Rhea Avenue, Logan Central to Marsden Library.

Getting to another library

Starting Monday 3 July, Logan City Council Libraries will provide a free shuttle service for library customers between Logan Central and Marsden Libraries. The shuttle is available Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 3.00pm and is for library members only.

Marsden Library is the closest library to Logan Central Library and is located at 35 Chambers Flat Road, Marsden (next to the Marsden Park Shopping Centre).  The contact phone number for the Marsden Library is 3412 4180.

Yes, Logan Central Library staff have been relocated to other libraries to provide assistance to library customers.

Marsden and Beenleigh Libraries also have additional public computers available for library customers to access.

Logan Art Gallery library programs

Starting Monday 3 July, Logan Art Gallery will provide an alternative location for regular story time and after-school programs during the temporary closure of Logan Central Library.

Yes, Logan City Council Libraries will run a number of events at the Logan Art Gallery. Events include story time and after-school activities.

Community services and facilities

No, all community meeting rooms and office spaces will be closed and unavailable to the public.
The immunisation clinic has relocated to the Logan City Council Administration Centre located at 150 Wembley Road, Logan Central every Thursday at 3.30pm – 7.00pm. For more information call 3412 5397 or visit the website.

No, the Logan Central Library book shop will be closed. The Logan West Library Book Shop is still open.
Yes, the Local Heritage Specialist will be located at Marsden Library during the temporary closure of Logan Central Library and is available to assist with any local heritage enquiries.

Access to key materials from the local heritage and Nyeumba Meta collections are also available at Marsden Library.
